At the [Intel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/google-glasses) Developers Forum in San Francisco, California, Intel announced 'Joule' as a powerful and "sophisticated maker board" with a RealSense depth-sensing camera and showcased one potential use for the technology in a pair of smart glasses.

As demonstrated by Intel, the [Pivot](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-beach-2) Head augmented reality safety glasses powered by Joule could be used in aircraft manufacturing. The glasses could be worn by an employee throughout tasks like attaching bolts in all the right places and the smart glasses would be able to verify that the job has been done correctly by supplying real-time feedback on a person's performance.

This is just one of the many potential applications of Intel's Joule. The tiny maker board could be used to power a variety of robotics, AR, VR and IoT devices.
