# Abstracted Alpine Illuminators The Jostedalsbreen Lamp Brings Geographic Drama to Domestic Decor By Amelia Roblin | Published 2014-03-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jostedalsbreen-lamp References: [yeongkeun](http://www.yeongkeun.com/) In addition to using naturally sourced materials within the home, you can bring a bit of the outdoors inside by integrating items like the Jöstedalsbreen Lamp. This [sculptural room brightener](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape-lamp) was inspired by the majestic forms of alpine mountain ranges; it was modelled here with some simplified geometries for a cool and contemporary look. Keeping true to the topographical feature that it represents, the Jöstedalsbreen Lamp has a rocky base that was cast from charcoal-colored concrete. The triangulated and tectonic textures of the heavy foundation are kept consistent in the snowy cap of the table lamp. The summit is covered in a [frosted glass material](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nola-lamp) that serves as a diffuser for the bright light source within. This Yeong Keun piece makes a great stand-alone item, affording illumination and decoration at once. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 21% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Naturally Sourced Materials:** Opportunity for businesses to create innovative products using sustainable and eco-friendly materials. - **Geometric Sculptural Design:** Opportunity to incorporate unique and visually striking designs into home decor items. - **Indoor-outdoor Integration:** Opportunity to bring elements of nature indoors through home decor and lighting designs. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunities for creating eco-friendly, visually appealing home decor products. - **Lighting Design:** Opportunity for businesses to design and produce unique and functional lighting fixtures. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate nature-inspired elements and designs into interior spaces. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Architecturally Elegant Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/juba-tl1-table-lamp.md) - [Brutalist Bedside Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vestige-lamp.md) - [Illuminating Stone-Made Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nau-design.md) - [Simplistic Angular Desktop Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/linear-table-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuloa.md) - [Archetypal Conical Light Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragile-lamp.md) - [Posh Paper Craft-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/japandi-lamp.md) - [Hollow Candle-Like Table Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lampe.md) - [Bonfire-Inspired Indoor Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iri-lamp.md)
