# Color Cloud Paintings Joshua Petker Creates Beautiful and Sullen Art By Meghan Young | Published 2010-08-12 | Updated 2010-08-15 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joshua-petker References: [lifelounge](http://www.lifelounge.com/art-and-design/news/joshua-petker-and-all-the-pretty-girls.aspx) & [joshuapetker](http://www.joshuapetker.com/) Combining [color](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/profiles-in-color), moodiness and [pretty girls](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-mom) is all Joshua Petker needed to do to win me over. I love his work, although I could do without the more morbid pieces. Yet there is something so surreal and touching about each piece that I can't help but appreciate even those. Based in [Los Angeles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/agapanthus-collection), Joshua Petker is somewhat "reminiscent of Symbolist / Art Nouveau painter Gustav Klimt," as Life Lounge notes. Inspired by graffiti at first, Joshua Petker has now branched out to create pieces like those seen in the gallery above. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.2/10 - Popularity: 86% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Colorful Art:** Opportunity for artists to explore vibrant and visually striking artworks that captivate audiences. - **Emotional Expression:** Chance to create art that evokes strong emotions and connects with viewers on a deep level. - **Fusion of Styles:** Space for artists to combine different artistic techniques and influences to produce unique creations. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art Galleries:** Potential to showcase and sell captivating artworks to art enthusiasts and collectors. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity to incorporate vibrant and emotionally engaging artworks into residential and commercial spaces. - **Art Education:** Scope for teaching students about the use of color and emotion in art to inspire their own creations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Human Duality-Themed Abstract Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/passive-aggression.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Apocalypse Post Pandemic Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/contemporary-urban-art.md) - [Weather-Inspired Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/weatherinspired-art-exhibition.md) - [Abstract Geometric Solo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impermanent-state-of-being.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md) - [Artist-Designed Umbrella Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shed-rain-artist-series.md) - [Artful Soft-Pink Dining Rooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-gallery-at-sketch.md)
