# Egg Carton Creations The Josh Jakus Eggflat Makes a Boring Item Uniquely Contemporary By Jessica Marcel | Published 2009-11-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/josh-jakus-eggflat References: [designpublic](http://www.designpublic.com/shop/josh-jakus/13964) & [joshjakus](http://www.joshjakus.com/eggflat.php) The Josh Jakus Eggflat takes its inspiration from the decidedly boring [egg carton](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gnaw-chocolate-eggs). Jakus simplifies the shape, however, and makes it his own. The simple form is perfect for holding all that random stuff you’ve got hanging around. The Eggflat can hold [fruit, knickknacks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/circuit), or the [random everyday items](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tray210) we need to have in easy reach. Take a look at the gallery to see just a couple examples of what the Josh Jakus Eggflat can be used for. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.7/10 - Popularity: 9% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Minimalist Storage:** Simplifying and reimagining everyday storage solutions to create minimalist and contemporary designs. - **Multipurpose Containers:** Designing containers with versatile functionality to accommodate various items and reduce clutter. - **Upcycled Packaging:** Turning mundane and traditional packaging materials into modern and sustainable products. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Organization:** Innovative storage solutions for decluttering and optimizing living spaces. - **Interior Design:** Creating multifunctional and aesthetically pleasing containers for homes and commercial spaces. - **Sustainability:** Developing eco-friendly products by repurposing and upcycling materials, reducing waste and carbon footprint. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Versatile Egg-Shaped Waste Bins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nextgen-waste-bin.md) - [Durable Egg Packaging Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/egg-packaging1.md) - [Welcome Gift Design Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/earths-hatch-kit.md) - [Cost-Conscious Egg Cartons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cartons-of-eggs.md) - [Cardboard-Inspired Ceramic Household Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cardboard-collection.md) - [Origami-Inspired Lunch Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/foldibox-2.md) - [Artfully Balanced Chair Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfway-serious.md) - [Fried Egg-Inspired Canopy Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sunny-side-up-extension.md) - [Eco-Certified Eggshell Materials](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ecoshell-llc.md)
