The collection takes on the shape of a risen loaf of bread and was exhibited at the Stockholm Design Week in 2014. "[Bread] is a good and descriptive way to communicate the form. The words and the name paints pictures before people have even seen the product," says Wagell. Each piece of furniture found in the Swell collection consists of [curvaceous padding and fat armrests](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tom-dixon-fat-and-plump), lifted off the ground using tiny metal feet. The [padded oval shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knoll-perron-pillo) was created using a wooden frame, covered in polyether foam and upholstered. The collection comes in 21 different colors: olive green, grey, brown and many more. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.6/10 - Popularity: 7% | Activity: 3% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Bread-inspired Furniture:** The rising popularity of designs inspired by bread or food shapes presents an opportunity for furniture and interior designers to create whimsical and eye-catching pieces that stand out in the market. - **Curvy and Padded Furniture:** The trend for furniture with generous curves and ample padding presents an opportunity for manufacturers to create comfortable and cozy seating options for consumers seeking relaxation and comfort in their homes or offices. - **Vibrant-colored Furniture:** The growing trend for furniture in bright and bold colors presents an opportunity for furniture makers to use color to add life and energy to interior spaces, appealing to consumers seeking to express their personality and style through their home decor. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Furniture design companies can leverage the trend for bread-inspired furniture by creating unique and innovative designs that creatively reinterpret popular food items and convey a sense of playfulness and fun to consumers. - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can incorporate curvy and padded furniture into their designs, creating comfortable and functional spaces that prioritize relaxation and comfort for their clients, while still presenting a visually striking aesthetic. - **Home Decor Retail:** Retailers of home decor items can capitalize on the trend for vibrant-colored furniture by stocking a variety of pieces in bold and beautiful colors that add excitement and energy to interior spaces, appealing to consumers seeking to refresh their home decor. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Modular Butter-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/butter-sofa.md) - [Baking-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bread-butter.md) - [Oozing Cake-Like Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roll-furniture.md) - [Danish Pastry-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-art-collection.md) - [Curved Bed-Inspired Sofas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/velar-sofa.md) - [Cinnamon Roll-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bun-bun-chair.md) - [Compact Pillowy Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sander-series.md) - [Balloon-Like Seating Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seungjin-yang.md) - [Pod-Inspired Bulbous Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pod-collection.md)
