This one plays lullabies too, except through your [iPad](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/video-magnifier). Music and quirky visual animation are generated from the iPad when the crank on these [cute wooden blocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sound-blocks) is rotated. The key is to have placed the box on the iPad, as the Adobe Air for iOS senses the pressure and synthesizes mechanical movement into visual content. Some of the materials used to create this digital dream are rubber tips from pens and a conductive metal crank. This prototype was created as a part of her studies at [ECAL](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stagespeaker). This is an unprecedented example of the flexibility of tablets—they are full of untapped possibility and potential. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 48% | Activity: 44% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Tablet Music Boxes:** The trend of integrating tablets with traditional music boxes opens up opportunities for creative and interactive music experiences. - **Multimedia Crank Toys:** The combination of physical cranks and digital screens offers innovative possibilities for interactive toys that blend physical and digital elements. - **Digital Synesthesia:** The ability to convert mechanical movement into visual content through tablet devices provides a unique way to enhance sensory experiences. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Music Toy Industry:** The integration of tablets into music boxes presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the music toy industry, enabling new forms of interactive musical play. - **Children's Technology Industry:** The fusion of digital screens and physical cranks in toys creates disruptive innovation opportunities in the children's technology industry, enhancing engagement and interactivity for young users. - **Art and Design Education:** The use of tablets as a platform for creative projects, such as the 'Little Boxes' project by Joelle Aeschlimann, highlights the potential for disruptive innovation in art and design education, combining digital technology with traditional craftsmanship. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [DIY Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/make-your-own-music.md) - [Minimalist Lantern-Like Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reuge-onk.md) - [Coffee Ground Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/christmas-music-box.md) - [Coffee Ground-Made Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowie.md) - [Immersive Tablet Picture Frames](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iframix-smart-frame.md) - [Instant Music Sketchbooks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/everglow.md) - [Kid-Friendly Synth Kits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fourstep-sequencer.md) - [Charitable Music Boxes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wooden-mushroom-fairy-music-box.md) - [Affordable Music-Making Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/easyplay-1s.md)
