The latest collection from the Japanese designer showcases his skill for applying [bright neon resin into wood pieces](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/draga-aurel1), leaving the natural grains exposed. Jo Nagasaka, who works for the [Schemata Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/display-fixture) firm, has made a name for himself through this process. The ColoRing collection is currently on display at the [Spazio Rossana Orlandi](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/room-as-instrument) during Milan Design Week 2013. The designer achieves this unique look by applying paint to the wooden surfaces and then polishing this color with a brush made from sew grass. This rough bristled brush scrapes off the natural tissues on the surface and reveals the raw wooden grains underneath. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 54% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Acid-washed Timber Furniture:** Opportunity for creating vibrant, colorful furniture by applying acid-washed resin to wood pieces. - **Clashing Colors and Ideas:** Opportunity for exploring and combining unconventional color palettes and design concepts in furniture and decor. - **Natural Grain Exposed:** Opportunity for showcasing the natural beauty of wood grains through innovative design and resin application. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Opportunity for furniture manufacturers to experiment with new techniques and materials for creating unique designs. - **Interior Design:** Opportunity for interior designers to incorporate vibrant, eye-catching furniture pieces into their projects. - **Art and Decor:** Opportunity for artists and decor enthusiasts to explore unconventional color combinations and materials in their creations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dynamic Timber Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/down-to-earth.md) - [Pop Art-Inspired Bright Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/henri-judin.md) - [Colorful Dense Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joy-objects-1.md) - [Through-Colored Wooden Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roggbif.md) - [Machete-Cut Table Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kodai-iwamoto.md) - [Workshop-Backed Elevated Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nagare-collection.md) - [Candy-Inspired Laminated Artful Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/n90n.md) - [Retro Colorful Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/geometrica.md) - [Vibrant Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vibrant-furniture-collection.md)
