# Jet Pack Snow Blowers German Engineers Develop the Ultimate Way to Clear Sidewalks By Max Imum Command | Published 2013-02-17 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jet-snow-blower References: [discovery](http://www.discovery.ca/dp/videos/?clipid=863893) & [skyflash.org](http://www.skyflash.org) A team of German engineers decided to solve the problem of excessive snow using a [jet engine-equipped backpack](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kikfin) with a 160 horsepower snow blower. The thousand degrees of hot jet gases remove ice within seconds, and even snow heights of more than two feet are gone with a single blast. Discovery Channel went to Germany and shot this rather new way of snow-plowing service for their prime time Daily Planet show. But they also detected some serious problems the developers will have to face in the future: when used on a patch of grass, the snow might not be the only thing blown away. Certain safety precautions should be used when operating [powerful machinery such as this](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/outdoor-power-equipment). ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) > [Inventions](https://www.trendhunter.com/inventions) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Jet Engine-equipped Backpacks:** The development of jet engine-equipped backpacks presents disruptive innovation opportunities for snow removal services and outdoor maintenance industries. - **Excessive Snow Solutions:** The need for solutions to remove excessive snow can drive disruptive innovations in the snow removal industry. - **Powerful Machinery Safety Precautions:** The demand for safety precautions when operating powerful machinery like jet engine-equipped snow blowers can lead to disruptive innovations in safety equipment and training industry. ### Who This Affects Most - **Snow Removal Services:** Disruptive innovation opportunities arise in the snow removal services industry with the introduction of jet engine-equipped backpacks for efficient snow clearing. - **Outdoor Maintenance:** The development of jet engine-equipped backpacks presents disruptive innovation opportunities for the outdoor maintenance industry in their quest for efficient snow removal solutions. - **Safety Equipment and Training:** The introduction of powerful jet engine-equipped machinery creates disruptive innovation opportunities in the safety equipment and training industry to ensure proper precautions and safe operation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Intelligent Autonomous Snowblower Robots](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/snowbot-s1.md) - [Automated Robotic Leaf Blowers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yarbo-blower-b1.md) - [Multifunctional Electric Snowmobiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/electric-snowmobiles.md) - [Handheld Air Blower Machines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/evoduster-pro.md) - [Snow-Faring Mountain Bikes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/motorized-mountain-bike.md) - [Sleek Leaf Blower Tools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoto-cordless-leaf-blower.md) - [All Terrain Electric Skis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skwheel-one.md) - [Motorized Skier Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eskimo.md) - [Canadian Standing Snowmobiles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/widescape.md)
