Jesus Gonzales recently completed a series of perception-bending photographs. The shoots are essentially [portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-portraits) but with a twist -- they show more than one angle of their subject's faces. Beyond just this, they create an [optical illusion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hooptical) such that a phantom face appears adjacent to the real one.

At first glance the photographs seem natural. This initial impression fades quickly into inquisitiveness as one realizes that one is looking at a face from multiple angles at once.

Jesus Gonzales started the series in 2009 and only just completed it this year. Perception is a tricky thing and [photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moon-walker-multi-cam) is is a great medium to play with it in.
