# Brutalist Architecture Photography Jeroen Peters' Latest Project Highlights Unique Modern Design By Riley von Niessen | Published 2017-08-03 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jeroen-peters References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2017/07/19/spatial-interactions-by-jeroen-peters-2/) & [jeroenpeters.net](http://www.jeroenpeters.net/about/) Jeroen Peters, an independent photographer who seeks out architecture that has a "[strong graphic character](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mohmaya)" to it, recently released a series called 'Spatial Interactions.' The project gets its name from the unique contrasts that it highlights between the [brutalist architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fairmont-golden-prague) in the images, and the empty spaces that they're situated in. To show this, Jeroen Peters crops the images he captures so that the architecture is shown against a simplistic backdrop, which usually shows either a clear blue sky or a body of water. This allows the architecture itself to be at the forefront of each image, and all of the small details to be granted the attention that they deserve. All of the images are captured in European cities, such as Copenhagen, Amsterdam, Malmö, and Bilbao. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.5/10 - Popularity: 59% | Activity: 38% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Brutalist Architecture:** Opportunity for disruptive innovation in architectural design that prioritizes strong graphic character. - **Spatial Interactions:** Potential for disruption in the field of photography by emphasizing contrasts and simplicity in architectural images. - **European Urban Photography:** Innovation opportunity for capturing unique architectural details in European cities. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Design:** Chance for disruptive innovation in leveraging brutalist architecture to create visually striking and meaningful spaces. - **Photography and Imaging:** Opportunity for disruption by focusing on contrasts and simplicity in capturing architectural nuances. - **Tourism and Travel:** Innovation potential in promoting European cities as attractive destinations through showcasing their unique architectural character. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Industrial Architecture-Themed Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/industrial-archaeology.md) - [Graphic-Accented Brutalist Apartments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jean-verville.md) - [Brutalist Converted Learning Centers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/archipelago.md) - [Brutalist Mexican Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brutalist-mexican-hotel.md) - [Brutalist Jungle Sanctuaries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/john-dessarzin-jungle-sanctuary.md) - [Architecturally Influenced Speakers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-brutalist-speaker.md) - [Brutalist-Inspired Apartment Redesigns](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-est.md) - [Brutalist-Inspired Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/prisma-collection.md) - [Brick-Centric Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brick-collection.md)
