Instead of using just one celeb, the ‘Stand Up to Cancer’ telethon will be a star-studded event, featuring dozens of stars, including Jennifer Aniston, Scarlett Johansson, America Ferrera, and Charlize Theron, who will join the recently cancer-free Christina Applegate. The telethon takes place on September 8 at the Kodak Theatre in Hollywood.
Aimed at raising funds to speed up cancer research, Stand Up to Cancer is a program of the Entertainment Industry Foundation.
Joining Jennifer Aniston and America Ferrera will be veteran Hollywood icons such as Meryl Streep, and Sally Field. Not to be exclusively female, Lance Armstrong, Josh Brolin, David Cook, and Casey Affleck also lend their support.
Co-hosted by news icons Katie Couric, Charles Gibson and Brian Williams, the telethon is set to be broadcast simultaneously on CBS, NBC and ABC.
