# Jellyfish Chandeliers 2 Timothy Horn Lighting By Ayman | Published 2008-05-04 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jellyfish-timothy-horn References: [notcot.org](http://www.notcot.org/post/10355/) Melbourne-born artist Timothy Horn's large-scale [jellyfish chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jewels-of-the-sea) were inspired by the illustrations of the 19th century German zoologist, Ernst Haeckel. His creations (Stheno, Euryale, and [Medusa](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/taichi-sakura)) are made of [silicone rubber and fiber optics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nova-pendant-light). The chandeliers seem to be moving and swimming in the air. I love their ambient light. They should be used in a seafood themed restaurant! **Implications** - The home is a place where people get to show off personal style and choice of product. Businesses are realizing that people do not want to have interiors that look the same as all of their friends, but to be different and reflect personality. Everything from lighting to appliances can be catered towards creative and unique individuals. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.8/10 - Popularity: 77% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Personalized Home Interiors:** Businesses can capitalize on the desire for unique and creative home interiors by offering personalized lighting and appliances. - **Ambient Lighting Design:** There is an opportunity to create innovative lighting designs, such as jellyfish chandeliers, that provide ambient and captivating lighting experiences. - **Seaside-themed Restaurants:** Seafood-themed restaurants can enhance their ambiance by incorporating jellyfish chandeliers, creating a one-of-a-kind dining experience. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore new opportunities in personalized and unique lighting and appliance designs. - **Lighting Design:** Lighting designers can push boundaries and create disruptive designs that offer captivating ambient lighting. - **Restaurant and Hospitality:** The restaurant and hospitality industry can create immersive and unique dining experiences by incorporating innovative lighting fixtures like jellyfish chandeliers. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Algae-Based Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chandeliers-sconces.md) - [Plant-Inspired Dynamic Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blossom-chandelier.md) - [Sculptural Glass Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tamar-grande-chandelier.md) - [Dynamic Hand-Blown Glass Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polaris.md) - [Candy-Colored Glass Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wave-ii.md) - [Fishnet-Made Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/philips-mycreation-droplet-lamp.md) - [Sculptural Contemporary Chandeliers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/volant.md) - [Dynamic Artful Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ghost-chandelier.md) - [Otherworldly Lighting Fixture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/otherworldly-lighting-fixture.md)
