[Japan](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chilled-cups) is combating an influx of giant jellyfish by doing what only makes sense--grinding them up to use as a base for jellyfish candy. The curious confection combination was concocted by students at Obama Fisheries High School, and capitalizes on Japan's current [raw caramel craze](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/freeze-dried-caramel).

To make the jellyfish candy, sugar, starch syrup and jellyfish powder are mixed into a caramel. The jellyfish powder itself is created by boiling jellyfish--trapped in fixed nets at Fukui prefecture--and then grinding the paste that results until it's of a fine consistency.
