The Jeddah kingdom tower will stand over 1,000 meters (3,280 feet), besting the Burj Khalifa by over 200 meters. Chicago architectural firm Adrian Smith + [Gordon Gill Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/uks-highest-restaurant) has released this image, the first one of the tower, and boy is it something. The tower is expected to cost $1.2 billion to build and will feature a [Four Seasons Hotel](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/four-seasons-hotels-and-resorts), Four Seasons apartments, offices, luxury condos and the world's highest observatory. I am loving the new skyscraper race being played out in the Middle East. Rich countries such as the UAE (Bruj Khalifa) and Saudi Arabia (Kingdom Tower) are pushing each other to create bigger and better buildings year in and year out. Here's hoping they never stop, as I would like to see a mile-high tower before I die. It can be done! ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.8/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 99% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Supertall Skyscrapers:** The construction of increasingly taller skyscrapers in the Middle East presents an opportunity for innovative designs and technologies to create supertall structures. - **Luxury Mixed-use Developments:** The rise of luxury mixed-use developments, such as the Jeddah Kingdom Tower, offers opportunities for high-end residential, commercial, and hospitality experiences under one roof. - **Vertical Urbanism:** The concept of vertical urbanism, exemplified by the Jeddah Kingdom Tower, demonstrates the potential for creating complete ecosystems within single high-rise structures. ### Where This Applies - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can leverage the trend of supertall skyscrapers to explore innovative structural and sustainable solutions for buildings of unprecedented heights. - **Hospitality and Real Estate:** The development of luxury mixed-use buildings like the Jeddah Kingdom Tower presents an opportunity for the hospitality and real estate industries to cater to affluent individuals seeking integrated experiences. - **Construction and Engineering:** The construction and engineering sectors can capitalize on the trend of vertical urbanism to develop advanced construction techniques and infrastructural systems for high-rise cities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Cube-Shaped Skyscraper Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mukaab.md) - [Ski Resort Crystalline Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/trojena-ski-resort.md) - [Skyline Sports Arenas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/neom-sky-stadium.md) - [Staggered Tower Texan Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/1550-on-the-green.md) - [Sky-Garden Leisure Towers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-sobha-skyparks.md) - [Eco-Conscious Slim Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/muraba-veil.md) - [Expansive NYC Tower Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/supertall-skyscraper-1.md) - [Stacked Concrete Memorial Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/qatar-world-cup-memorial.md) - [Thrill Ride-Topped Ultra-High Skyscrapers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-torch.md)
