Jared Rusten is the proprietor of the J. Rusten studio, an independent [solid-wood furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wellsbuilt), sculpture, and artwork shop that aims to alter the furniture game by replacing traditional, stagnant designs with the avant-garde and fresh. And that's exactly what Rusten's latest creation is. Designed in the shape of his home state of California, Rusten is selling two [coffee tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-coffee-tables) and two desks, both built with salvaged Claro Walnut, a commodity indigenous to California. The large desk will run you, $2,950, the medium desk is $2,350, the medium coffee table is $2,250, and the small coffee table is $1,650. If I were from Cali, this Jared Rusten designed furniture would be at the top of my 'to buy' list. Nothing says state pride and originality like such odd and cool furniture. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 74% | Activity: 52% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Regional Pride Furniture:** Creating furniture inspired by specific regions allows for unique and personalized design options. - **Avant-garde Furniture Design:** Breaking away from traditional designs opens up opportunities for innovative and unconventional furniture creations. - **Salvaged Material Furniture:** Using salvaged materials not only promotes sustainability but also adds a distinctive and eco-friendly element to furniture design. ### Who This Affects Most - **Home Furnishings:** Incorporating regional pride into furniture designs can attract consumers looking for unique and culturally significant pieces for their homes. - **Interior Design:** Avant-garde furniture designs offer interior designers an opportunity to create bold and artistic spaces that stand out from traditional designs. - **Sustainable Furniture:** The use of salvaged materials in furniture production can appeal to environmentally-conscious consumers and contribute to the growing market for sustainable furniture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Surfboard-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pacific-collection.md) - [Jewelry-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/through-chrome-reflections.md) - [Island-Inspired Wooden Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/island-table.md) - [Coastal-Inspired Sleek Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/canyon-collection-1.md) - [Extravagant Handcrafted Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/handcrafted-furniture.md) - [Artful Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knowledge-of-all-dark-things.md) - [Discreetly Beautiful Furniture Showrooms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/formla.md) - [Musician-Inspired Textural Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jura-collection.md)
