# Hybrid Time-Telling Smartphone The Jamie Hayon & iida 'Fusion' Phone has a Built-In Clock By Senduran Bhakthakumaran | Published 2012-04-18 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jamie-hayon-iida-fusion-phone References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2012/04/17/analog-digital-fusion-phone/) & [stuff](http://www.stuff.tv/news/phone/next-big-thing/fusion-phone-concept-fuses-analogue-and-digital) The Jamie Hayon & iida 'Fusion' phone is the perfect smartphone for nostalgic timekeepers. Why? It is a smartphone with a design concept that implements a small analog clock so that time can always be heard, ticking away. This phone is ingenious as it provides all the functions of a regular smartphone while maintaining a sleek design that could battle the iPhone. Furthermore, it increases its elegant appeal with the built-in clock that sits neatly at the upper left-hand corner of the phone and is big enough to display the time but not too big for the phone's overall design. With minimal buttons along the edges of the phone, the time-setting knobs needed for the clock do not make the phone look too complex either. One won't need to take their phone off standby to check the time anymore. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 57% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Smartphone Time-keeping:** Smartphone designs are incorporating analog clocks to improve functionality and aesthetics. - **Sleek Device Design:** Incorporating additional features in smartphone designs while maintaining a sleek and uncluttered appearance is highly sought after. - **Nostalgic Design Elements:** Design elements that harken back to earlier eras are being incorporated into modern technology for a unique blend of old and new. ### Who This Affects Most - **Technology:** Smartphone manufacturers have the opportunity to improve their designs by incorporating additional features such as analog clocks to improve functionality and aesthetics. - **Consumer Electronics:** Consumer electronics companies can differentiate themselves from competitors by offering sleek devices with unique and nostalgic design elements. - **Fashion:** Fashion designers can capitalize on the trend of nostalgic design elements to create new and innovative products that blend the past with the present. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Magsafe Clock Smartphone Accessories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olock.md) - [Hourglass-Shaped Phone Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meti.md) - [Retro-Futurism Smartwatch Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/justwatch.md) - [Connected Simplicity-Focused Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-rubiks-cube-clock.md) - [Deep Focus Desktop Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tabletop-stopwatch.md) - [Distraction-Free Meditation Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meditation-clock.md) - [Anti-Smartphone Bedside Alarm Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mudita-clocks.md) - [Celestially Inspired Desk Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/astral-desk-clock.md) - [Minimal Charging Clocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/desk-clock-1.md)
