At first glance you may think, "Surely, that cannot be the case." But it is, my skeptical friends. Just look at the details. Creating [intricate sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table), Jacqueline Rush Lee explains that she has found herself "drawn to the intimate, [tactile, and symbolic qualities](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fragmenti) of [used books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/solange-azagurypartridge)" for almost a decade. Yet by seeing beyond these qualities, she also redefines these existing works into what she calls "an alternative narrative." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.7/10 - Popularity: 87% | Activity: 75% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, South America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Business](https://www.trendhunter.com/business) > [Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/books) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Book Art:** Designers and artists are using books as a canvas to create impressive and intricate sculptures. - **Alternative Narrative:** Artists like Jacqueline Rush Lee are redefining existing works to create new and thought-provoking narratives. - **Upcycled Art:** Artists are finding value in repurposing used materials, like books, to create new and unique pieces. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art and Design:** The art and design industry can incorporate new upcycling methods and materials to create innovative pieces. - **Publishing:** The publishing industry can experiment with interactive and alternative book forms to diversify their offerings. - **Education:** The education industry can use book sculptures as a unique way to teach literature and storytelling, inspiring creativity in students. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Detailed Ceramic Book Vases](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biblio-bloom.md) - [Stone Floral Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lithic-bloom.md) - [Paper-Made Mosaic Artwork](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/real-life-architecture-exhibition.md) - [Sculptural Mixed-Media Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-echoes.md) - [Biology-Inspired Porcelain Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu.md) - [Outdoor Floral Sculpture Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptures-at-kew-gardens.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Human Torso-Inspired Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lene-bdker.md) - [Blooming Light Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloome.md)
