# Adorably Minimalist Animal Drawings Jacob Boie Depicts the Simplicity of Cuteness in Unlikely Pets By | Published 2013-06-07 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jacob-boie References: [jacobboie](http://jacobboie.com/11107/156322/gallery/more-illustrations) Graphic artist Jacob Boie is known for creating adorably [minimalist designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biting-edge) depicting everything from sports to bicycles. His animal designs, however, are the pinnacle of cuteness and catch the eye from the very first glance. Each [animal portrait](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/portrait-mom) depicts a cartoonish creature staring curiously out at the viewer from against a vibrant solid-colored backdrop. The animals are drawn with an easy simplicity that enhances their cutest features, a smart move on the part of Boie since with this technique viewers feel inclined to reach through the drawing and hug the little guys. The gorilla portrait is especially demonstrative of Boie's ability to render anything as adorable. Instead of their traditional black fur, Boie shows the gorilla as having a vibrant turquoise coat. He then places the gorilla against a lime green background, which creates an overall eye-catching design. With the gorilla's confused expression and [miniature stature](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/small-muji) the drawing takes on an adorable nature that will have every viewer squealing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.0/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 34% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 30% men, 70% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Modern](https://www.trendhunter.com/modern) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Minimalist Animal Designs:** Exploring new techniques for minimalist designs that enhance the cutest features of animals. - **Cartoonish Creature Designs:** Optimizing designs that depict animals in a cartoonish manner to make attractive products for children and pet lovers. - **Vibrant Solid Colored Backdrops:** Experimenting with solid color backdrops and vivid hues that could be used for creating visually appealing designs for clothing and home decor. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Graphic Design Industry:** Innovating the graphic design industry with an emphasis on minimalism and cartoonish designs. - **Pet Product Industry:** Introducing new products targeted toward pet owners with cartoonish designs that enhance the cutest features of their animals. - **Children's Product Industry:** Developing new children's products such as toys, clothes, bedding, and accessories, that feature adorable minimalist designs with vibrant solid-colored backdrops. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Playful Cat Illustrations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/open-meow.md) - [Almost-Extinct Animal Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauna-series.md) - [Canadian Animal-Themed Kitchenware](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-animals-maple-syrup-jar.md) - [Adorable Cat Milk Cartons](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/adorable-blue-cat.md) - [AI Pet Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawmypet.md) - [Striking Urban Wildlife Art](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/clare-allin.md) - [Realistic Sketch-Reflective Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drawing-series.md) - [Stunning Origami Portraits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/origami-portaits.md) - [Adorable Pawprint Bottles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pet-paw-bottle.md)
