# Contemporary Chalkboard Cabinets Jackanory by Timothy Ben Furniture is a Writable Wardrobe By Meghan Young | Published 2013-05-23 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/jackanory-by-timothy-ben-furniture References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2013/05/22/writable-wardrobe/) & [timothybenfurniture](http://timothybenfurniture.co.uk/) Perfect for both children and adults, the Jackanory by Timothy Ben Furniture, a design studio based in Britain and founded by Tim Forrester, is a contemporary cabinet that boasts a fun detail: a chalkboard panel. As though a complementary piece to his previous [Matchbox Table](http://www.trendhunter.com/trends/matchbox-table), it brings a playfulness to an otherwise minimalist and mature furniture piece. Taking on a [locker-like style](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/multidrawer), the Jackanory by Timothy Ben Furniture is tall and long. Although the embedded chalkboard can be dismissed as childish addition, it actually serves a practical purpose as well. Great for notes to others or oneself, it replaces more typical whiteboards. It is available in 50 different colors to suit any living space. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.8/10 - Popularity: 39% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Gen Alpha, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Chalkboard Furniture:** Innovative designs for furniture with chalkboard panels can offer practicality and playful aesthetics for children and adults alike. - **Interactive Storage Solutions:** Storage designs with interactive details, such as chalkboards, offer new and creative ways to store items while serving functional purposes. - **Multi-purpose Furniture:** Furniture with multiple functions and features, like the Jackanory cabinet, can meet the practical and playful needs of consumers. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can capitalize on the trend of interactive and multi-functional designs in order to stand out in the market. - **Home Decor:** Home decor companies can offer innovative solutions for storage and furniture that cater to both practical and aesthetic needs. - **Education:** Educational institutions can take advantage of chalkboard furniture designs to enhance learning environments and encourage creativity. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dedicated Student Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kids-furniture-design.md) - [Thoughtful Wheeling Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet-on-wheels.md) - [Volcanic Rock-Inspired Cabinet Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tuff-pencil-cabinet.md) - [Modular Configured Office Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cabinet.md) - [Stylish Oakwood Storage Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moose-cabinet.md) - [Modular Storage Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-storage-cabinet.md) - [Maternal-Themed Sculptural Cabinets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/mother-and-child.md) - [Cabinet-Concealed Modern Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/obelisk-3.md) - [Miniature Sanitized Cabinet Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yujin-lee.md)
