This talented artist's work is overall varied in subject matter and tone throughout his portfolio. He mostly likes to paint human figures and he creates consistently exquisite work. However, the three gloomy portraits he has painted of a woman covered in what looks like the [liquid form of ceramic](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/drip-exhibition) is especially noteworthy. The artwork has a very gloomy mood and the artist uses spectacular shading to accentuate parts the realistic lighting imagery. One of the paintings is of the [ceramic-covered girl](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/glass-portraits) proceeding to bite in to a rose while another one is painted sideways and framed into a family portraiture frame. The mood that is communicated through the canvas is dramatic and awe-inspiring. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 68% | Activity: 40% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Gloomy Portraits:** Exploring dark and moody themes in portraiture through the use of ceramic spills. - **Realistic Lighting Imagery:** Using shading techniques to create realistic lighting effects in artwork. - **Exquisite Artistic Work:** Producing consistently beautiful and well-executed pieces of art. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Art:** Opportunity for artists to experiment with new materials and themes. - **Interior Design:** Incorporating dark and dramatic artwork into interior spaces for added visual impact. - **Photography:** Exploring techniques for capturing and recreating realistic lighting effects in photographs. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Biology-Inspired Porcelain Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shiyuan-xu.md) - [Modern Poertic Ceramics](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/virginia-sin.md) - [Structural Ceramic Art Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zemlya.md) - [Glamorous Artful Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sweet-jane.md) - [Textural Porcelain Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tamara-efrat.md) - [Surreal Love-Themed Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/joakim-ojanen.md) - [3D-Printed Colorful Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivier-van-herpt-1.md) - [Artfully Dynamic Vessels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/devin-wilde.md) - [Large Structural Ceramic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/olivia-cognet.md)
