# Skateboard-Segway Hybrid iSlide Motorized Skateboard By robitrocks | Published 2007-09-18 | Autos Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/islide-when-you-cross-a-skateboard-with-a-segway References: [gizmag](http://www.gizmag.com/go/8034/) Industrial designer Ofir Tal has crossed a skateboard with a [Segway](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-escooter), and created iSlide, a [one wheel motorized skateboard](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-naowheel). iSlide utilizes a hydrogen fuel cell and an [onboard gyroscope](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inmotion-v9) to reach speeds up to 9.5 mph. Skating on the iSlide is similar to a Segway, lean forward to accelerate and backwards to slow down. "To optimize its urban transport functionality lights have been included in the design for night-time use and a handle is integrated into the rear of the board for ease of transportation on buses and trains," GizMag said. "Ofir, who has recently completed studies at Israel's Hadasa College, is seeking interest from investors to assist in future development of the project." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.2/10 - Popularity: 83% | Activity: 35% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Autos](https://www.trendhunter.com/autos) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Motorized Skateboards:** The creation of the iSlide motorized skateboard presents an opportunity for companies to invest in the development of motorized skateboards that are eco-friendly and cost-efficient. - **Hydrogen Fuel Cells:** The use of hydrogen fuel cells in the iSlide motorized skateboard presents an opportunity for investment in the development of hydrogen fuel cell technology for transportation. - **Gyroscopic Technology:** The use of an onboard gyroscope in the iSlide motorized skateboard presents an opportunity for investment in the development of gyroscopic technology for transportation. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Skateboard Manufacturing:** The iSlide motorized skateboard presents an opportunity for skateboard manufacturers to invest in the development of motorized skateboards. - **Green Technology:** The use of hydrogen fuel cells in the iSlide motorized skateboard presents an opportunity for investment in the development of eco-friendly transportation. - **Gyroscope Manufacturing:** The use of an onboard gyroscope in the iSlide motorized skateboard presents an opportunity for manufacturers to invest in the development of gyroscopic technology for transportation. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Motorized Inline Skate Platforms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/escend-blades.md) - [Intuitive Remote-Free Electric Skateboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/liquid-skateboard.md) - [Hybridized Electric Longboards](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybridized-electric-longboards.md) - [App-Controlled Skates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/appcontrolled-skates.md) - [Skateboard-Inspired Electric Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bustin-boards-skatex.md) - [All Terrain Electric Skis](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/skwheel-one.md) - [Long-Range Single-Wheeled Scooters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/onewheel-gt.md) - [All-Terrain Electric Skateboard Models](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/twowheel-electric-board.md) - [Motorized Electric Roller Skates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rollwalk-electric-roller-skates.md)
