The architects renovated a single-storey cabin; due to site restrictions, imposed from an existing drain field, they were unable to increase the size of the home. The architects were, however, able to insert a [wooden addition that cantilevers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tallowwood-cabin) over the basement walls, effectively increasingly floor space without affecting the field. Inside, the wood box contains a kitchen, bedroom and bathroom. The addition features a set of sliding doors that open out onto the refurbished deck. Downstairs, the daylight basement was renovated for space optimization; it houses two bedrooms, a bathroom, a communal living area and new laundry area. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Luxury Cabin Renovations:** Opportunity for architects and designers to transform existing cabins into luxurious and functional spaces with innovative designs and additions. - **Space Optimization Solutions:** A market for innovative solutions that maximize space in restricted environments, such as cantilevered additions and basement renovations. - **Seamless Indoor-outdoor Living:** Growing demand for designs that seamlessly integrate indoor and outdoor spaces, utilizing sliding doors and refurbished decks for a closer connection to nature. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can capitalize on the trend of luxury cabin renovations and space optimization solutions by offering innovative and functional designs for residential and vacation properties. - **Home Improvement and Renovation:** Companies specializing in home improvement and renovation can tap into the demand for space-maximizing solutions and luxurious cabin upgrades by offering innovative products and services. - **Outdoor Living and Landscape Design:** The trend of seamless indoor-outdoor living presents opportunities for companies in the outdoor living and landscape design industry to offer products and services that create cohesive and inviting outdoor spaces around cabins and homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Holiday Mountain Village Chalets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/perfect-day-house.md) - [Angular Getaway Cabin Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/halfmoon-bay.md) - [Elevated Forest Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/columbia-river-valley-lookout.md) - [Tranquil Seasonal Canadian Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/green-cabin.md) - [Contemporary A-Frame Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/buoy-bay.md) - [River Retreat Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wenatchee-river-cabin.md) - [Off-Grid Forest Retreats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-cabin.md) - [Dark-Green Minimal Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/scalar-architecture.md) - [Countryside Woodland Cabin Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aralar-cottage.md)
