# Extreme Tennis Tables The Intifada Ping Pong Table Represents More Than Just a Challenge By Alex Scott | Published 2010-04-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/intifada-ping-pong-table References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2010/04/27/intifada-by-carlos-no/) & [carlosno.myguide.pt](http://carlosno.myguide.pt/) I consider myself pretty capable at table tennis but I think I would have to kindly back away from a game on the Intifada ping pong table. You would need a serious back hand and some powerful wrist action to be able to score over a six-foot [brick wall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sharp-table). Of course, the table was not meant to be played on, but rather built as an [art exhibit](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-transformation-table). Created by Carlos No, the Intifada ping pong table represents the segregation and the boundaries set up in our society. He explains how physical boundaries can lead to a strong disconnect, even in highly populated areas. Looking at the table right now, I must say I feel pretty disconnected from my hand-eye coordination. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.5/10 - Popularity: 3% | Activity: 33% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Physical-digital Integration:** Opportunity for creating interactive ping pong tables that merge physical play with digital experiences. - **Art as Social Commentary:** Potential for artists to use their work to address societal issues and provoke meaningful discussions. - **Reimagining Sports Equipment:** Disruptive potential in redefining the design and functionality of traditional sports equipment to challenge norms and perceptions. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Sports and Recreation:** Opportunity for introducing innovative sports equipment and facilities that offer unique experiences for players. - **Art and Design:** Potential for artists and designers to use their work to communicate meaningful social messages and spark conversations. - **Tech and Gaming:** Opportunity for integrating technology into sports and gaming experiences to enhance interactivity and engagement. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Table Tennis Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nedj-ping-pong-tables.md) - [Reflective Ping-Pong Parlour Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/match-point-installation.md) - [Posh Pastel-Hued Game Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/casablanca-ping-pong-table.md) - [Luxury Transparent Game Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/effetto-71-ping-pong-table.md) - [Fashion-Branded Ping Pong Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/kith-for-wilson-ping-pong-table.md) - [Pop Art-Inspired Foosball Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/rs4-home-x-hey-foosball-table.md) - [Hybrid Party Game Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tiburon-tables.md) - [Limited-Edition Foosball Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/afternoon-light.md) - [Vertical Drinking Games](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wall-pong.md)
