# Squiggly Glue Rainfall Exhibits Interstitial: Between Earth and Sky is a Pleasing Art Installment By Nikki Taylor | Published 2012-10-14 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interstitial-between-earth-and-sky References: [inspir3d.net](http://inspir3d.net/2012/10/07/gerri-sayler-turns-hot-glue-into-a-shower-of-celestial-light/) & [gerrisayler](http://gerrisayler.com/installations/gerri-sayler-interstitial/) Gerri Sayler created the large-scale drizzled glue gun installation deemed Interstitial: Between Earth and Sky for the [University of Wyoming Art Museum](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/crow-museum-of-asian-art) in Laramie. The art piece is 28 by 33 feet and made up of several strands of glue that trickle down from the ceiling windows of the museum. The [shimmery-sticky strands](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/miami-art-week) were made by squeezing hot glue into ice water. When the light hits them, they shimmer like crystals casting waves of reflective light around the room. When the sun is down, they sit like a [curtain of colorless string](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/making-the-invisible-visible). From afar, the hot glue lines appear like a furious downpour of large rain drops falling from the ceiling. Interstitial: Between Earth and Sky is the concluding addition to the Sculpture: A Wyoming Invitational exhibit. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.1/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 19% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Large-scale Art Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in creating immersive and visually stunning large-scale art installations using unconventional materials and techniques. - **Interactive Lighting Effects:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in incorporating interactive lighting effects into art installations to create captivating and dynamic visual experiences. - **Environmental Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in utilizing unconventional materials and techniques to create environmentally conscious art installations that evoke thought and reflection. ### Where This Applies - **Art Installations:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in the art installation industry to push boundaries and create unique experiences for viewers. - **Museums and Galleries:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in museums and galleries to showcase unconventional art installations that engage and captivate visitors. - **Lighting and Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunities exist in the lighting and technology industry to develop new methods and products for creating immersive and interactive lighting effects in art installations. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Resin Gravity Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-great-tree.md) - [Spring-Welcoming Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meadow-exhibition.md) - [Immersive Climate Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/remembering-the-future.md) - [Blooming Clustered Art Forms](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/structural-botany.md) - [Immersive Light Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/spencer-finch.md) - [Unique Interactive Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-aurora.md) - [Gas Rig Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/striking-art-installation.md) - [Glass Beaded Intricate Artworks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/painting-exhibition.md)
