The collaboration resulted in the production of two gorgeous pieces, a [side table and a coffee table](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/monumental-table). Both designs were made with [thick glass inserts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zen-collection-1) and sturdy bronze frames, to help complement the product's unusual shapes, which were inspired by African mythology. The coffee table, titled the 'Metsing,' translates to " place of water," and is reminiscent of three interconnected puddles. The 'Kaggen' side table, which translates to "Praying Mantis," was named after its [spider-like form](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table). The artists behind the designs claimed that the idea behind the tables came from the desire to turn a spiritual concept into something "tangible and present." ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.0/10 - Popularity: 85% | Activity: 58% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Africa ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Mythology-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture inspired by mythology opens up opportunities for unique and unconventional home decor. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** The collaboration between Okha and Atang Tshikare highlights the potential for mythology-inspired furniture in the interior design industry. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Manufacturers in the furniture industry can explore the market demand for mythology-inspired pieces and create innovative designs. - **Art and Home Decor:** The mythology-inspired furniture trend provides opportunities for artists and home decor businesses to create one-of-a-kind pieces with a storytelling element. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sea-Inspired Table Lines](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sea-materials.md) - [Structurally Artful Table Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vakr.md) - [Aquatic Creature-Inspired Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nessie-side-table.md) - [Juxtaposing Themed Furniture Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/emprea-series.md) - [Mythology-Themed Lighting Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/alchemist-collection.md) - [Industrial Contemporary Family Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-hagstones.md) - [Indigenous Amazonian-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ibuju.md) - [Mythical Forest-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grun-collection.md) - [Architect-Inspired Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/norm-architects1.md)
