# Interactive Dimmer Lights This Lamp Requires Human Contact to Turn On and Off By Ell Smith | Published 2017-08-28 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-dimming-light References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/a-table-lamp-that-you-interact-with-to-turn-it-on/?utm_source=feedly&utm_medium=webfeeds) & [nott.ua](http://nott.com.ua/) The seamless integration of smart technology and home design has created a disconnect between people and objects, prompting the designers at 'Nottdesign' to create an [interactive dimmer light](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp) that needs human contact to be turned on and off. Dubbed the 'RA' [table lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aplat), this unique home item acts as more of a lever than it does a lamp. To achieve the full effects of the RA's glow, users must crank the handle at a 90-degree angle. To turn the light off, the lever must be pushed toward the ground. Everything in between provides [dimming control](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp) -- the closer to the top, the brighter the glow. This interactive dimmer re-imagines the old-fashioned relationship between people and technology, finding a unique balance between the two. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 29% | Activity: 4% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Interactive Technology:** The integration of interactive elements into technology creates new opportunities for user engagement and experiences. - **Human-object Interaction:** Designing products that require human contact and physical engagement can enhance the user's connection and experience with the object. - **Reimagining User Relationships:** Exploring new ways to redefine the relationship between people and technology can lead to innovative product designs and experiences. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Smart Home:** The integration of interactive dimmer lights into smart homes offers enhanced lighting control and user experiences. - **Industrial Design:** Designers can explore creating interactive products that require human contact, revolutionizing the way people interact with objects. - **Interior Design:** The incorporation of interactive dimmer lights into interior design can provide unique lighting solutions with a human-centric approach. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interactive Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tangent-lamp.md) - [Touch-Enhanced Glass Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bolita.md) - [Dimmable Dog Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/grejsimojs.md) - [Minimalist Tech Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/delite-20.md) - [Textured Ceramic Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torso-table-lamp.md) - [Minimal Wake-Aware Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wake-sleep-light.md) - [Naturalistic Biophilic Lamp Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bioo-lamp.md) - [Inflatable Mood Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/blow-lamp.md) - [Traditional Tower-Inspired Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-pagoda-lamp.md)
