# App-Connected Measuring Tools The Instrumment 01 Takes Precise Measurements with Lasers By Joey Haar | Published 2016-11-01 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/instrumment-01 References: [indiegogo](https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/01-world-s-first-dimensioning-instrument--2) & [instrumments](http://instrumments.com/) The 'Instrumment 01' is a convenient measuring tool that uses advanced technology to take incredibly accurate data. The device is both a pen and a "dimensioning instrument," as the company bills it, meaning that it can be carried around anywhere and used for a variety of jobs. Rather than simply taking measurements, the beauty of the Instrument 01 is that its [app connectivity](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-apps-studio) makes it smarter than a [measuring tape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/comandi). With the app, users can log multiple dimensions (e.g. height, width, and depth) for both straight and contoured objects. The Instrument 01 app can also automatically make conversions between any type of unit, from metric to imperial and anything else. The Instrument 01 also has a helpful [laser pointer](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-rangefinders) as a guide, so users can see exactly how far they've measured. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 53% | Activity: 73% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Gadgets](https://www.trendhunter.com/gadgets) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **App-connected Measuring Tools:** Tools like the Instrumment 01 show the potential for greater precision with app connectivity and multiple dimension tracking. - **Multipurpose Measuring Devices:** The Instrumment 01's combination of a pen and measuring instrument offers opportunities to innovate with multi-functional tools. - **Smart Measurement Conversion:** The Instrumment 01's app that automatically and accurately converts measurements between different units demonstrates a need for more intelligent measurement conversion tools. ### Where This Applies - **Construction:** The Instrumment 01's precision and portability could make it an invaluable tool for contractors and builders on job sites. - **Design:** The Instrumment 01's ability to measure contoured objects and convert between units with ease is a game-changer for designers and architects. - **Manufacturing:** Manufacturers could benefit from app-connected measuring tools like the Instrumment 01 to increase accuracy and efficiency during production processes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Connected Professional Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/acegmet-dtx-10.md) - [Six-in-One Laser Measure Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/laser-measure.md) - [AR Display Measuring Instruments](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ar-measuring-instrument.md) - [Next-Gen Connected Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-tape-measure.md) - [One-Button Laser Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-laser-measure-pro.md) - [Intelligent Laser Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hoto-laser-tape-measure.md) - [Compact Multifunctional Laser Measurers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/meazor.md) - [Modular Laser Measure Devices](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/modular-laser-measure.md) - [Digital Laser Tape Measures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digital-laser.md)
