# Literary Art Installations Artist Thomas Ehgartner Art Installation Critiques the Information Age By Ariel Weber | Published 2012-11-29 | Pop Culture Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/installation-art References: [sweet-station](http://sweet-station.com/blog/2012/11/meaning-minus-truth-conditions/) & [artdoxa](http://www.artdoxa.com/thehgar) 'Meaning Minus Truth Conditions' is an art installation created by Thomas Ehgartner. The exhibition is a social critique of the ever-expanding flow of information that we as a society are being exposed to. To demonstrate this, the artist lined up 8,000 books to cover the entirety of the room and had made a structure out of shredded books to create a 'Schwalbennestes,' which is a German world that is translated into "a bird's nest." Placing a ladder beside the bird's nest, the intent of the installation is for the viewer (society) to climb up and sit in the nest where they look down at the [endless amount of information](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folded-time) that is given to us at constant rates. With all the books laid out in this fashion, it appears overwhelming, but when it is neatly compiled all within our computer screens, it is a much different story and provides a literal interpretation demonstrating how we digest information. For anyone interested in the art installation, the exhibition is currently taking place at the sculptures studios of the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 4.5/10 - Popularity: 67% | Activity: 59% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Pop Culture](https://www.trendhunter.com/popculture) > [Media](https://www.trendhunter.com/media) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Information Overload:** Art installations that critique the overwhelming amount of information in the digital age are gaining traction as a way for society to reflect on the impact of information overload. - **Interactive Art Experiences:** Art installations that invite viewers to participate and interact with the artwork are becoming popular, offering a more immersive and thought-provoking experience for audiences. - **Social Commentary Art:** Art installations that serve as a critique of societal issues, such as the flow of information, are emerging as a way for artists to engage and provoke conversations about important topics. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art Galleries:** Art galleries can incorporate more interactive and socially conscious art installations to attract visitors seeking unique and thought-provoking experiences. - **Digital Media:** Digital media platforms can collaborate with artists to showcase their work and raise awareness about the impact of information overload in the digital age. - **Education:** Educational institutions can incorporate art installations that explore social issues, such as information overload, to stimulate critical thinking and discussion among students. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Provocative Banned Books Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/banned-books-jail.md) - [Sizable Chair Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chair-installation.md) - [Gas Rig Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/striking-art-installation.md) - [Thought-Provoking Interactive Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/antibodies-installation.md) - [Digital Expo Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/after-utopia.md) - [Wonderous Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/your-psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [CD-Comprised Towering Art Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stratagems.md) - [Human Connection-Themed Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/satellite-exhibition.md) - [Lightning-Inspired Artful Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bright-light-shining.md)
