# Hive-Like Bug Hotels The Insectopia by Vaulot&Dyevre Promotes Biodiversity in Paris By Meghan Young | Published 2011-04-19 | Lifestyle Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insectopia-by-vaulot-dyevre References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/insectopia-by-vaulotdyevre/) & [vaulotdyevre](http://www.vaulotdyevre.com/) In an effort to promote and grow biodiversity in urban cities, the Insectopia by Vaulot&Dyevre sculptures are an interesting set of insect 'hotels' that bugs can now take refuge in. Located in Paris, France, they look essentially like [large birdhouses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/domik-ptashki) created in such a way as to mimic hives. Designed specifically by [Atelier Seewhy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/office-national-des-forts), Bruno Clanet and Jean-Kanora You, the Insectopia by Vaulot&Dyevre bug homes were commissioned by the mayor of the 13th district. A curious installation, it not only encourages life on all levels, it also adds an interesting focal point in this part of the city. In fact, the Insectopia by Vaulot&Dyevre bug homes will surely encourage people's imaginations as they see little lives thriving within. To me, it's like a real-life [Pixar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/icons-program) film. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.4/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Lifestyle](https://www.trendhunter.com/lifestyle) > [Life](https://www.trendhunter.com/life) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Urban Biodiversity:** Creating insect 'hotels' in urban cities to promote and grow biodiversity. - **Sculptural Bug Homes:** Designing large insect 'hotels' that serve as focal points in urban areas. - **Insect Refuge:** Creating a safe haven for bugs and insects to thrive in urban environments. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Urban Planning:** Incorporating bug hotels into the design and planning of urban areas. - **Art and Sculpture:** Creating sculptural bug homes as artistic installations in urban cities. - **Ecotourism:** Promoting insect hotels as attractions for eco-minded tourists visiting urban areas. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Hollow Terracotta Pillared Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/biodiversity-island.md) - [Bee-Friendly Bricks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bee-bricks.md) - [Science-Backed Wooden Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seed-stories.md) - [Insect Habitat Toys](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-playground.md) - [Smart Nature Observatories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/smart-nature-observatory.md) - [Life-Sized Puzzled Insect Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-collection.md) - [Modular Wildlife Habitats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/wonder-blocks.md) - [Bee-Watching Wooden Cabins](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shannan-beehive-observation-cabin.md) - [Birdhouse-Integrated Address Signs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/our-common-house.md)
