The inspiration for these quirky pieces of furniture are [insects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/murder-hornet-ring) (hence the [larvae-like seats](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamorphosis-collection-2), the antennae-decorated thrones and so forth). This infernal-looking furniture conceived by French ex-animator Michel Haillard, is truly unique. The artist quit his job to dedicate himself to this macabre trade. **Implications** - DIG DEEPER. These consumers are somewhat obsessed with gross, one of a kind pieces that would make others feel uncomfortable intentionally. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.3/10 - Popularity: 97% | Activity: 84% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 90% men, 10% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Insect-inspired Decor:** Opportunity to create unique and creepy furniture designs inspired by insects. - **Unconventional Materials:** Opportunity to experiment with unconventional materials in furniture making like crocodile, ostrich skin, and wild animal horns and tusks. - **Niche Market Luxury Furniture:** Opportunity to cater to consumers who seek unique and one-of-a-kind luxury furniture pieces that make others uncomfortable intentionally. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Furniture designers can experiment with unconventional materials and insect-inspired designs to create unique luxury pieces. - **Luxury Home Decor:** Luxury home decor brands can target niche markets with a taste for creepy and unconventional designs. - **Art and Sculpture:** Sculptors can take inspiration from insect forms and experiment with unconventional materials to create unique, unsettling pieces of art. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Insect-Like Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mantis-chair.md) - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Unique Burl-Inspired Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/don-heston-studio.md) - [Rope-Like Dynamic Chair Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/caterpillar-lounge.md) - [Ceiba Tree-Inspired Spiked Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ceiba-series.md) - [Wilderness-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/habitat-collection.md) - [Insect-Inspired Bronze Sculptures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-bronze-sculptures.md) - [Mealworm-Inspired 3D-Printed Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digested-objects.md) - [Artful Wooden Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/knowledge-of-all-dark-things.md)
