# Adorable Critter-Inspired Furniture The Insect Collection by Deesawat is Creepy, Crawly and Cute By Meghan Young | Published 2013-09-24 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-collection-by-deesawat References: [trendir](http://www.trendir.com/archives/006872.html) & [deesawat](http://www.deesawat.com/) Although [creepy crawlers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roach-clip-side-table) might make people's skin crawl in real life, the Insect Collection by Deesawat, a design studio based in Bangkok, Thailand, is inspired by critters that would most likely be featured in an animated [Pixar](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/disney-creator-ambassador-program) film. Cute and simplified, the overall forms will burrow themselves in the hearts of their owners rather than repulsing them. Crafted out of teak wood and finished with stainless steel legs, the pieces making up the Insect Collection by Deesawat are incredibly modern as well. Although the shapes are abstract and organic as a whole, there is a realistic nature about them that will immediately recall a grasshopper, water bug and everything in between. Made for [outdoor use](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inside-collection), the collection can be used at accent tables. But watch out, they might just scurry away. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.6/10 - Popularity: 33% | Activity: 6% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Insect-inspired Design:** The trend of insect-inspired designs can be applied to a range of products including furniture, lighting, and home decor items. - **Cartoon-inspired Furniture:** Designing furniture inspired by Pixar-like cartoon creatures tap into an untapped market segment that provide homeowners with an alternative style they may prefer. - **Outdoor Furniture with Unique Forms:** The trend of creating modern and unique outdoor furniture pieces can offer a competitive edge for companies looking to create exclusive outdoor collections. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing Industry:** The manufacture of insect-inspired furniture and cartoon-inspired furniture can be seen as a profitable innovation opportunity for the furniture industry. - **Home Decor Industry:** Insect-inspired designs, in particular, can be used in creating home decor items thereby, providing opportunities within the home decor Industry. - **Outdoor Entertainment Industry:** Outdoor furniture with unique abstract forms and designs like the insect collection can offer an innovative addition to the outdoor entertainment industry's furniture offerings. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stackable Flat-Pack Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-collection-1.md) - [Playful Accent Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bug-table.md) - [Insect-Like Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-mantis-chair.md) - [Wilderness-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/habitat-collection.md) - [Playful Toy-Like Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frunchroom-furniture-collection.md) - [Life-Sized Puzzled Insect Capsules](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/insect-collection.md) - [Durable Flat-Packed Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/eilersen.md) - [Charming Workplace Furniture Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/zoozoo-collection-by-narbutas.md) - [Mealworm-Inspired 3D-Printed Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/digested-objects.md)
