[Innovation factories](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/innovation-campus-1) are not extremely common, so when Kengo Kuma took on the project of the 'Progetto Manifattura – Green Innovation Factory,' the firm wanted something crisp and distinct. The resulting structure is certainly different than most buildings found in the area.

The firm went with a horizontal look, instead of how many buildings are constructed these days, going straight up in more of a vertical rectangular form. Even though the building takes up more space on the ground, the way it's been designed allows for [green space to flow throughout](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cmp-inspiration), instead of completely covering this area like the previous building. The outside also features what looks like [stacked pieces of wood](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hybrid-flax-pavilion), formed in an asymmetrical manner.

The design is set for completion in 2018.
