# Organically Inspired Moving Lamps The inMOOV Lamp Has an Elegant Folding Shade By Joey Haar | Published 2017-05-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inmoov References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/an-adjustable-moving-lamp-inspired-by-movements-in-nature/) & [ninalieven.net](http://ninalieven.net/inmoov) inMOOV, a lamp designed by Nina Lieven's Berlin-based [Studio Lieven](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/orb-lamp1), incorporates a geometrically complex and impressively elegant shade that is designed to resemble the movements of nature. The lamp, which folds open and closed smoothly by hand, is inspired by organisms like flowers and jellyfish, whose [undulating movement](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yurameki) is a calming sight in a world of anxiety. The [folding shade](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flatpack-timber-lamp) covering inMOOV takes technical cues from Paul Schatz' Invertible Cube, the mind-bending, mathematical shape that is like a three-dimensional version of a Mobius strip. Aside from the shade, the lamp's light itself responds to the state of the fold. When fully extended, the LED will be at its hottest (3,500 Kelvin) while it will be at its coolest when contracted (2,500 Kelvin,) with a smooth gradient of light temperature in between. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.1/10 - Popularity: 93% | Activity: 83% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Nature-inspired Design:** The inMOOV Lamp's design uses nature-inspired motifs in its shape and movement, creating an opportunity for businesses to incorporate organic elements in their products. - **Foldable Products:** inMOOV's foldable lampshade presents opportunities for businesses to innovate and incorporate foldable design for compact storage or transport. - **Responsive Technology:** The inMOOV Lamp's light temperature adjusts according to the movement of the shade, creating opportunities for businesses to incorporate reactive technology in their products for added user experience. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Lighting:** inMOOV's elegant yet functional design is perfect for the lighting industry and presents an opportunity for businesses to develop unique lighting products inspired by nature. - **Furniture:** inMOOV's foldable design presents an opportunity for furniture companies to create compact and space-saving designs without sacrificing aesthetics. - **Consumer Electronics:** The inMOOV Lamp's responsive technology presents an opportunity for companies in the consumer electronics industry to incorporate similar features in their products for added user experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Shape-Shifting Modular Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/moodi.md) - [Adjustable Sculptural Desk Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ovo-lamp.md) - [Foldable Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/interactive-folding-lamp.md) - [Origami-Inspired Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ori-lamp.md) - [Blooming Lighting Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pavo.md) - [Interactive Blooming Floor Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bloomlight-s-lamp.md) - [Productive Mood Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/teixeira-design-studio.md) - [Flat-Pack Paper Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tsubomi.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md)
