# Futuristic Beach Houses The Iniala Beach House in Phuket Exudes a Shell-Shape By Jamie Danielle Munro | Published 2014-04-11 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iniala-beach-house References: [contemporist](http://www.contemporist.com/2014/04/09/iniala-beach-house-interiors-by-a-cero/) & [iniala](http://www.iniala.com/) The Iniala Beach House is located in Phuket, Thailand, and looks like something out of a sci-fi movie. The design takes on a shell-like shape, which is fitting considering the resort is right next to the beach, overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. The resort doesn't use traditional ninety-degree angles for much of the house, but instead the architects have opted to use more rounded corners. Horizontal and vertical lines are still employed, but the non-angular edges give the design a futuristic aesthetic, like something one would see on Star Wars. The furniture also matches this look, with the dining area featuring a waved ceiling, reflecting the ocean outside. The coloring used throughout also reflects the sandy surroundings where the structure is located. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 100% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Architecture](https://www.trendhunter.com/architecture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Futuristic Architecture:** Architecture that incorporates more rounded corners and non-angular shapes for a modern, futuristic look. - **Ocean-inspired Design:** Designs that reflect and incorporate ocean elements, such as waved ceilings and sandy color schemes. - **Non-traditional Angles:** Using angles other than traditional ninety-degree angles to create visual interest and a unique aesthetic. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Hospitality Industry:** Incorporating futuristic and ocean-inspired designs to create unique and visually interesting resorts and hotels. - **Architecture and Construction Industry:** New opportunities for architects and builders to experiment with non-traditional angles and rounded corners in their designs. - **Furniture and Interior Design Industry:** Creating furniture and decor that reflects ocean elements and matches the futuristic aesthetic of the architecture. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Whimsical Futuristic Home Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yoohome.md) - [Fiji Ocean-Front Estate Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reef-house.md) - [Futuristic Curved Islandic Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-nest-2.md) - [Sci-Fi Coastal Hotel Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/epicon.md) - [Boxy Shaped Beach Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/roman-izquierdo-bouldstridge.md) - [Coastal Shiny Cantilevered Pods](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shebara-resort.md) - [Floating Eco-Tourist Hotels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/turtle-bay.md) - [Beach-Overlooking Picturesque Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/villa-a.md) - [Modern Architectural Seaside Homes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/strandhouse.md)
