# Inflatable Lighting Systems Theo Moller's Inflatable Light Series Can Be Blown Up Like Balloons By Laura McQuarrie | Published 2014-05-02 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/inflatable-light References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2014/04/30/inflatable-blow-lamps-theo-moller-milan-2014/) & [theomoeller.de](http://www.theomoeller.de/portfolio/blow-light-up-be-bright) In the creation of his BLOW lamp series, Theo Möller describes that it was his goal to "use the heat of bulbs to let a lamp fly." Although this sounds pretty ambitious, the unusually buoyant lighting system is simple, consisting of [inflatable tubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/big-glow-light) and LED strips. With polyethylene tubes acting like balloons, the lamps start as flattened rolls that can be blown up into [floating light sources](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cube-one-table-lamp). The lights themselves come from small LED strips, which are placed so that there are no safety hazards. The light strips are nothing substantial, but the tubes have a metallic aluminium coating inside, which helps to amplify and reflect the light around a room. Möller's range of BLOW lamps are available in lengths of up to 13', with the longest weighing in at just barely over a pound. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.0/10 - Popularity: 28% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Inflatable Lighting:** The creation of inflatable lighting systems opens up opportunities for more creative and portable lighting designs. - **LED Strip Lighting:** Using LED strips in lighting systems can reduce energy consumption and offer unique lighting designs. - **Lightweight Design:** Lightweight materials and design can create new possibilities for portable lighting solutions. ### Who This Affects Most - **Event Services:** Event planners and decorators can utilize inflatable lighting and LED strip lighting to create unique and stunning visuals while being easy to transport and set up. - **Architecture and Design:** Architects and designers can incorporate inflatable lighting and lightweight design into their projects to offer a more dynamic and flexible lighting solution for their clients. - **Outdoor Recreation:** The use of lightweight and portable inflatable lighting can enhance outdoor recreation experiences such as camping or nighttime festivals. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Inflatable Colorful Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/squeeze-inflatable-lamp.md) - [Balloon-Like Lighting Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/soft-blown.md) - [Inflatable Lighting Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colorpipes.md) - [Floating LED Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/poof-light.md) - [Balloon-Shaped Exterior Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/seedevil-balloon-lights.md) - [Hat-Like Fabric Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/flying-lamp.md) - [Air Balloon-Inspired Lamp Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/air-balloon-lamp.md) - [Bubble-Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bubbles-lighting-design.md) - [Dreamlike Bubble-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/airshape-lamp.md)
