# Elegant Lemniscate Lamps An Infinity Symbol Light Has a Continuous Looped Form and a Poetic Look By Amelia Roblin | Published 2015-02-05 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/infinity-symbol-light References: [yankodesign](http://www.yankodesign.com/2015/01/30/in-light-of-eternity/) & [markus-kurkowski.de](http://www.markus-kurkowski.de/) Technology has enabled lighting design to move beyond the lightbulb, facilitating the creation of pieces like this infinity symbol light. Embedded with LEDs, this [pendant lamp](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/warp-lamp) assumes a graceful [sculptural shape](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/polyshape-lamp), emitting rays from its entire underside. Made from ceramic material, the ceiling light comprises a pair of overlapping ellipses that hold a bright direct source in the center. This can be used when intense and focused illumination is required for activities like reading. Alternatively, Markus Kurkowski's award-winning Sphere light can be switched into a more diffuse mode, casting a gentle glow that spreads across its surface. The full effect is ambient and ethereal, suggesting the beauty of the symbolism behind the infinity symbol light's design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.3/10 - Popularity: 91% | Activity: 61% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Lighting Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new materials and shapes to create unique and poetic lighting fixtures. - **LED Technology:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop innovative ways to embed LEDs into lighting designs for efficient and versatile illumination. - **Ambient Lighting:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create lighting solutions that promote a peaceful and ethereal ambiance through diffuse and gentle glow. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Interior Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Integrate elegant lemniscate lamps into interior design concepts to create visually striking focal points. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Offer infinity symbol lights as unique and artistic home decor pieces that blend style with functionality. - **Lighting Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Collaborate with designers and incorporate advanced materials and technologies to produce innovative pendant lamps. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Astro-Inspired Sculptural Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/elara-suspension.md) - [Metaphorically Inspired Pendant Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bilanciato-pendants.md) - [Suspended Halo Light Fixtures](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lamplox-minimalist-floor-lamp.md) - [Organically Shaped Shadow Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loops-lamp.md) - [Geometric Bar-Like Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/empyrean.md) - [Chic Saucer-Shaped Illuminators](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/light-in-tight-light-fixture.md) - [Sculptural Wooden Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/arc-lamp.md) - [Baked Good-Inspired Lighting](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/croissant-pendant.md) - [Levitating Dynamic Ring Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/levitos.md)
