[Etsy](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sustainable-christmas-tree-alternative) designer Sweet Someday found a creative and stylish way to repurpose [old vehicle license plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boys-lie-license-plate) by turning them into decorative stars. These vintage wall stars are reminiscent of the stars featured on the American flag. The license plates are all collected from Minnesota vehicles. Each plate has been expertly folded by hand into a diamond shape. Five plates are then assembled together to replicate the look of a shining star with a patriotic American twist. You can hang this license plate star either indoors or outdoors for a rustic look. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.8/10 - Popularity: 10% | Activity: 5% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Upcycling:** Repurposing old license plates into decorative stars reflects the trend of upcycling and sustainable design. - **Vintage Decor:** The use of vintage license plates to create wall stars taps into the trend of incorporating retro and nostalgic elements in home decor. - **Patriotic Design:** Creating license plate stars with a patriotic American twist caters to the trend of celebrating national pride through design. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Home Decor:** The home decor industry can explore opportunities to incorporate upcycled materials, such as license plates, into unique and eco-friendly product offerings. - **Craft and DIY:** The craft and DIY industry can provide tutorials and resources for individuals interested in creating their own license plate stars or similar upcycled projects. - **Event Planning:** Event planners can consider incorporating license plate stars into Independence Day parties or other patriotic-themed events for a unique and eye-catching decorative element. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Stylish Safety Stickers](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bike-helmet-reflective-star-decals.md) - [Compact License Plate Mounts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/license-plate-mount.md) - [Independence Day Donut Lineups](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-spangled-sweetness-collection.md) - [Colorful Enamelware Plates](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/studio-tigress.md) - [Sparkling Illuminated Festive Wreaths](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/starry-wreath.md) - [Patriotic Americana Donuts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/krispy-kreme-stars-and-stripes-dozen.md) - [Patriotic Fruit-Packed Pancakes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/red-white-blueberry-pancakes.md) - [Patriotic Grocer Dessert Ranges](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/star-spangled-desserts.md) - [Summertime Americana Chip Branding](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pringles-fourth-of-july.md)
