Designed by Pontoatelier to give a much-needed dose of aesthetic pleasure in the time of rigid COVID-19 restrictions, the piece is intended to encourage practices of [physical distancing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/enfold) in the Azores. The Inbetween Pavilion is described to be "a space of liberty and freedom." Launched for the Walk&Talk arts festival, it provides a place for social interaction outdoors. People are invited to play, perform, and practice yoga, among other things. To match the atmosphere of its location, Pontoatelier introduced evenly spaced [volcanic rocks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-3to1-pavilion) in the "interior" of the Inbetween Pavilion. There are 25 of these rocks and all of them are placed at exactly two-meter intervals, nodding to the COVID-19 restriction.
