# Trippy Reflective Seating Mount Fuji Architects 'In Flakes' Benches Let You Sit on the Sky By Armida Ascano | Published 2010-09-18 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/in-flakes-benches References: [dezeen](http://www.dezeen.com/2010/09/16/in-flakes-by-mount-fuji-architects-studio/) & [www14.plala.or.jp](http://www14.plala.or.jp/mfas/fuji.htm) The Mount Fuji Architecture Studio has done it again with 'In Flakes' Benches located in Japan's Towada Art Center. Although they are intended to be simple seating structures, these mirrored benches could be an exhibit on their own. The 'In Flakes' benches are located directly under a plot of cherry trees, making for a beautiful pattern reflected onto the seating. Each bench is made of two or three folded stainless steel panels, making the actual design of the 'In Flakes' benches rather simple. Regardless, their beauty is astonishing as it changes every hour, season and year. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.3/10 - Popularity: 49% | Activity: 13% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 10% men, 90% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Reflective Seating:** Opportunity for creating interactive and visually stunning seating installations using reflective materials. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Art & Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity for integrating reflective seating into art installations and public spaces. - **Architecture:** Incorporating reflective seating into architectural designs to create visually captivating spaces. - **Tourism & Hospitality:** Using reflective seating in outdoor spaces to enhance the visitor experience and create memorable photo opportunities. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Dual Sculpture Seating Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/immaterial-0001.md) - [Stainless Steel Reflective Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dream-view-chair.md) - [Threshold Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torii.md) - [Sculptural Gravity Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/floating-bench.md) - [Japanese Gates-Inspired Benches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/torii-bench.md) - [Ring-Shaped Forest Blenches](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nesting-loops.md) - [Futuristic Rooftop Seating](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ls24-lounge-system.md) - [Minimalist Meditative Bench Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pause-bench.md) - [Sloped Tea-Room Waiting Areas](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sekiyuan.md)
