# Bedscape Photography New York-Based Photographer Maya Barkai Shoots Bedding Landscapes By Andrew Loh | Published 2012-01-01 | Updated 2012-01-03 | Tech Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/impressive-bedscape-captures References: [photographyserved](http://www.photographyserved.com/gallery/Bed-Landscapes/2470873) & [mayabarkai](http://www.mayabarkai.com/) Without taking the project’s title into account, a first look at Israeli photographer Maya Barkai’s series of ‘Bed Landscapes’ captures would have probably made viewers think they have just seen a collection of images of terrains textures, rather than the various creased bed sheets that they are. How could they not? One of the pictures looks just like a depiction of a barren desert and another greatly resembles the interior of a dark, beautiful cave. That being said, it is only apt that the New York-based photographer named her work the ‘Bed Landscapes’. One of the pictures in the series sees a romantic couple under a crimson bed sheet. Viewers would also notice that some of the images seem to suggest the silhouette of a woman. What I personally like about Maya Barkai’s ‘Bed Landscapes’ is that its contents are opened up to public’s interpretation, as different people may make out different things out of them. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.9/10 - Popularity: 73% | Activity: 37% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/photography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Bedscapes:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore new ways to incorporate artistic photography into the bedding industry. - **Abstract Photography:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop abstract photography techniques that challenge viewers' perception of familiar objects. - **Interpretation in Art:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create interactive art installations that invite audience interpretation and engagement. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce unconventional photography techniques to capture unique perspectives in various industries. - **Bedding Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Merge art and bedding by collaborating with photographers to create visually stunning bedding designs. - **Art Industry:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Embrace the concept of interpretation in art to challenge traditional notions and engage viewers in new ways. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Artful Four-Poster Bed Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/day-bed-installation.md) - [Designer Bedding Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/brooklinen-x-dabito.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Paper Curvature Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paper-curves.md) - [Expansive Motion-Inspired Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/forma-textile.md) - [Parisian Altheisure-Style Sleepwear](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bed-sleepwear.md) - [Minimal Stone Day Beds](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lattice-day-bed.md) - [Tradition-Inspired Bed Sheets](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/timeless-bed-sheet.md) - [Drawings-Inspired Rug Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/frames-collection.md)
