# Burst Pipe Seating Studio Dreimann's Ike Stool is Sleek By Meghan Young | Published 2012-04-01 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/ike-stool References: [design-milk](http://design-milk.com/ike-stool-by-studio-dreimann) & [studiodreimann](http://www.studiodreimann.com/) The Ike Stool is inspired by a burst pipe. Conceived and created by [Studio Dreimann](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/menow), it is made out of an actual [steel pipe](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stamping-chair). One end of the pipe has been strategically cut into three sections and then bent by a machine to make it appear as though it burst apart suddenly. Unveiled during Stockholm Design Week, the Ike Stool features an overall [minimalist design](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sedeo-chair). The monochromatic steel base is topped off with an oak wood seat. Priding itself on its functionality as much as its form, the Ike Stool has a simple screw feature that allows the sitter to adjust it to his or her height at whim. All the person needs to do is rotate the seat up or down. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 2.1/10 - Popularity: 32% | Activity: 24% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### Key Themes Behind This Trend - **Burst Pipe Design:** Incorporate the visual of bursting pipes into product design for a unique and edgy aesthetic. - **Industrial Minimalism:** Embrace the minimalistic design trend by incorporating industrial materials and simple shapes into furniture and product design. - **Adjustable Functionality:** Integrate simple adjustment features in furniture design for heightened user experience and convenience. ### Where This Applies - **Furniture Design:** Innovate the furniture industry by incorporating unconventional materials, shapes and features for a unique and minimalist design aesthetic. - **Home Decor:** Incorporate the industrial minimalism trend into home decor items such as lighting fixtures, wall art and other accessories for an edgy and modern look. - **Product Design:** Embrace the burst pipe aesthetic in product design for a unique and edgy appearance, especially in industries such as tech, automotive and sports equipment. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Interlocking Wooden Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-tie-stool.md) - [Stool-Inspired Design Exhibitions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hackability-of-the-stool.md) - [Lifestyle Commentary Stool Collections](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hipstool-series.md) - [Bold-Tonal Organic Furniture Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pressura.md) - [Re-Released Sculptural Bar Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bend-bar-stool.md) - [Alien-Inspired Metal Stool Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metal-stool-1.md) - [Highly Functional Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/loki-stool.md) - [Colorful Dual-Purpose Stool Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/s1-stool.md) - [Wheeled Bright Stumpy Stools](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stump-stool-1.md)
