Dutch design studio VenhoevenCS Architecture + Urbanism completes the IJboulevard design in Amsterdam. It is an underwater [bicycle park](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bicycle-store) that is made for Amsterdam Central Station in the Netherlands. It is able to hold up to 4,000 bicycles and is supported by a [pedestrian boulevard above ground](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/aquapraca) -- this overlooks the River IJ, which is referenced in its namesake.

This project was commissioned by the [Municipality of Amsterdam](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/visdeurbel) with the goal of decluttering the public space by the bustling station and offering a safer navigation from water traffic. The studio explains that "IJBoulevard delivers new public space, bringing bicycles underground to free up space at street level whilst providing a new living room for the city."
