# Flat-Pack Origami Furniture The IGA Chair Comes in a Box and is Designed to Look Like a Paper Swan By Michael Hines | Published 2011-08-26 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iga-chair References: [designbuzz](http://www.designbuzz.com/entry/origami-swan-shaped-iga-chair-wrapped-flat-package/) & [coroflot](http://www.coroflot.com/damiankozlik) The IGA Chair is a flat-pack chair designed to look like an origami swan. This unique combination of portability and artistic design was dreamed up by Polish designer Damian Kozlik. The IGA Chair sure is pretty to look at, but it looks even better when disassembled. The entire chair comes packed in a purple box and must be self-assembled. The package is designed much like the furniture sold at IKEA, with a set of fasteners and screws coming in a small box along with the chair itself. The end result is an artistic and eye-catching chair that looks almost too good to have come in a box. Unlike most awesome furniture designs, the IGA Chair is not doomed to be merely a conceptual design forever. According to Kizlik, the chair is in the developmental stage and will hit the open market soon. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.6/10 - Popularity: 50% | Activity: 49% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/furniture) ## Key Themes ### What Makes This Trend Stand Out - **Flat-pack Furniture:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Create a line of flat-pack furniture inspired by artistic designs, combining portability and aesthetics. - **Origami-inspired Design:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Incorporate origami-inspired design principles into various products, bringing together functionality and visual appeal. - **Self-assembly Products:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Develop a range of self-assembly products that offer the convenience of easy shipping and customization for consumers. ### Sectors Adopting This - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Explore the use of flat-pack furniture manufacturing methods to enhance portability and reduce shipping costs. - **Home Decor:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Introduce origami-inspired elements into home decor products to create visually striking and space-efficient solutions. - **E-commerce:** Disruptive innovation opportunity: Establish a platform for selling and delivering self-assembly products that cater to the growing demand for customization and convenience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Simple Assembly Dining Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yugan.md) - [Sliding Flatpack Seating Solutions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folio-chair.md) - [Geometric Flatpacked Wooden Armchairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sedia-tonda.md) - [Legless Floor Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-bold-chair.md) - [Flatpack Single-Piece Furniture](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/leaning-chair-set.md) - [Flatpack Ultra-Modular Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/nebula-chair.md) - [Peaceful Geometric Hanging Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iko-hanging-chair.md) - [Recycled Scissor-Like Folding Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/fauld-chair.md) - [Naturalistic Grass-Inspired Chairs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-flip-chair.md)
