A group of students and researchers at [Hong Kong Polytechnic University’s](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sisram-medical) [Institute of Textiles and Clothing](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/augmented-reality-1) recently came up with a shape-shifting mannequin called 'i.Dummy.' Although companies have been working on improving the fitting process for many years, mannequins have changed relatively little over the years. Now there is a device that can be used to show how clothing would fit on many different body types.

i.Dummy is a smart device that changes its shape so that designers can create custom-fit clothing for people of all sizes. The device is able to change its size by gathering measurement data from a [3D body scanner](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/3d-body-scanner1) and then changing its proportions accordingly. The mannequin can adjust its measurements in just minutes, giving consumers a physical avatar for fitting garments of all shapes and sizes.
