# Iconic Bridge Bookshelves Roumelight's Design Brings San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge Indoors By Riley von Niessen | Published 2016-09-20 | Art & Design Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/iconic-bridge References: [fubiz.net](http://www.fubiz.net/en/2016/09/19/golden-gate-light-bookshelf/) & [roumelight](http://roumelight.com/) Roumelight, a company that specializes in creating unique illuminating concepts, added to its offerings with a [lighted bookshelf](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reading-nooks) that's inspired by the architecture of San Francisco's most iconic bridge. In order to construct it, Roumelight crafted pillars from steel so that the shelf could easily hold a great weight of books. These are held up by a black [steel surface](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/pli-steel-wall-shelf) that's supported by the red pillars, giving it the look of a road. Complementing all of this are moody red lights that illuminate the area beneath the shelf -- making the iconic bridge standout tremendously in one's home. At the curved shape of the road-like surface doesn't allow for all that many books to be held up, Roumelight includes more [storage space](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/shelf-life) under it, making the decorative piece a functional home addition. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 5.6/10 - Popularity: 76% | Activity: 85% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Home](https://www.trendhunter.com/home) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Illuminating Concepts:** There is a growing trend in creating unique illuminating concepts for home decor. - **Iconic Architecture-inspired Design:** Designs inspired by iconic architecture, such as San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge, are gaining popularity in home furnishings. - **Functional Decorative Pieces:** There is a trend towards combining functionality with decorative pieces, making them both visually appealing and useful in homes. ### Who This Affects Most - **Interior Design:** Interior designers can explore innovative lighting concepts inspired by iconic architecture to create unique and visually striking spaces. - **Furniture Manufacturing:** Furniture manufacturers can leverage the trend of iconic architecture-inspired designs to create captivating and functional pieces for homes. - **Home Decor Retail:** Home decor retailers can tap into the trend of functional decorative pieces to offer customers visually appealing and practical products for their homes. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Bookshelves Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sculptural-bookshelf.md) - [Minimalist Bookish Shelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/minimal-bookshelf.md) - [Revolving Bright Kinetic Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/library-of-light.md) - [Speaker-Inspired Shelving](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/lloyd-tex.md) - [Parisian Building-Inspired Bookends](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/paris-bookend.md) - [Cabin-Shaped Reading Lights](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/boof-reading-light.md) - [Book-Storing Side Tables](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/bookgroove-bookrack.md) - [Dynamic Bookend Lighting Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/stair-table.md) - [Dynamic Geometric Bookshelves](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cheft.md)
