The 820-seat Icelandic Opera House is situated on Borgaholt Hill, traditionally known for its native population of magical elves. Mythical beings notwithstanding, designer Hallgrimur Thor Sigurdsson and architects Arkitema of Denmark and Arkthing of Iceland are each doing their part to make the glass building a magical place. The LEDs that make the glass Icelandic Opera House glow are located within the joints of the glass cube, and the lights will change color and intensity throughout the day. The building will also house a restaurant and five roof gardens, with the cube theme penetrating all aspects of design. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.3/10 - Popularity: 66% | Activity: 25% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Art & Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/artdesign) > [Design](https://www.trendhunter.com/design) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Color-changing Glass Buildings:** Designing glass buildings with color-changing LED lighting offers a visually striking and innovative architectural feature. ### Who This Affects Most - **Architecture:** Architects can incorporate color-changing glass buildings into their designs to create unique and captivating structures. - **Hospitality:** Restaurants can use color-changing glass buildings to create visually stunning dining experiences that attract customers. - **Event Spaces:** Event venues can utilize color-changing glass buildings to create dynamic and immersive environments that enhance the guest experience. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Sculptural Photocoltaic Theater Designs](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/opera-and-ballet-theatre-of-kosovo.md) - [Floating Opera Buildings](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/isola-della-musica.md) - [Harbor Opera Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hamburg-state-opera.md) - [Office Building Rainbow Facades](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/vertical-rainbow-office.md) - [Textured Glass Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/helsinki-design-and-architecture-museum.md) - [Flower-Shapes Greenhouse Gardens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-opera-park.md) - [Lakeside Cultural Landmarks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/isola-della-mus.md) - [Immersive Light Art Installations](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/psychoacoustic-light-ensemble.md) - [Everchanging Water-Based Theaters](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/yichang-grand-theatre.md)
