Along with their vows of chastity and poverty, the nuns have also taken on a [vow of silence](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silent-doorbell). All of their daily tasks, save for prayer and brief recreational breaks, are carried out in complete silence. Feher was able to get inside the walls of the 200-year-old Sclerder Abbey only after convincing the prioress that she her intention was to merely capture the nuns' [daily lives](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farming-photographs), judgement-free. During her time there, Feher was subject to the same silent treatment as everyone else. Still, there is a sense of warmth and honesty emanating from each photograph; a sense of welcoming and goodwill, or, more accurately, God's will. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 1.2/10 - Popularity: 18% | Activity: 9% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Fashion](https://www.trendhunter.com/fashion) > [Photography](https://www.trendhunter.com/stylephotography) ## Key Themes ### What's Driving This Trend - **Spiritual Photography:** There is an opportunity to explore photographic documentation of religious practices in different orders and faiths. - **Silent Communication:** There is an opportunity to develop communication tools and methods that embrace silence as a means of fostering deeper connections. - **Mindfulness Tourism:** There is an opportunity to develop a mindful travel industry that offers visitors a chance to experience silent retreats, meditation centers, and monastic stays. ### Who This Affects Most - **Photography:** Innovation opportunities in developing photographic themes that center around religious practices and beliefs. - **Communication Technology:** Innovation opportunities in developing communication tools and methods that leverage silence as a means to build deeper connections. - **Wellness Tourism:** Innovation opportunities for the travel industry to build and scale offerings around the concept of mindfulness and silent retreats. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Personal Nostalgic Photo Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holy-ohio.md) - [Photography Project Series](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/still-life-1.md) - [Art-Inspired Streetwear Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silent-echoes.md) - [Hillside Timber Chapels](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/chapel-of-st-thrse-of-lisieux.md) - [Painting-Immersive Photo Exhibits](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/new-ground-exhibition.md) - [Minimalist Sound-Free Doorbells](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/silent-doorbell.md) - [Timber Monastery Campuses](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/plum-village-buddhist.md) - [Unretouched Photography Books](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dove-reimagine-beauty.md) - [Agriculturally Inspired Art Projects](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/farming-photographs.md)
