The app was inspired by a real life incident at an Occupy Wall Street protest where a friend of the app's creator, Jason Van Anden, reportedly came "one nightstick swing away from being arrested," according to laughingsquid.com. The app is easy to use, requiring you only to input your message and contact numbers. The app is activated simply by pressing down on a big bulls eye in the middle of the screen. The I'm Getting Arrested app is available for free in the Android app store. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 0.5/10 - Popularity: 6% | Activity: 2% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial - Top markets: North America ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Tech](https://www.trendhunter.com/tech) > [Mobile](https://www.trendhunter.com/mobile) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Custody Alert Apps:** Opportunities for developing innovative apps that provide safety and security in emergency situations. - **'i'm Getting Arrested' App:** The rise of specialized apps that cater to specific needs, such as notifying friends during potentially dangerous situations. - **Activism Apps:** Growing demand for digital tools that support and enhance social activism efforts. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Mobile Application Development:** Developing innovative and specialized apps that cater to specific needs, such as emergency notifications. - **Public Safety and Security:** Opportunities to integrate technology into public safety systems for improved emergency response and communication. - **Social Activism:** Creating digital tools and platforms that empower activists in their efforts to bring about social change. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Social Justice Networking Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/reyets-app.md) - [Proactive Police Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/police-apps.md) - [Women’s Safety Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/im-safe.md) - [Emergency Alert Systems](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/protechme.md) - [Missing Child App Alerts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/Findmykids-App.md) - [Family Safety Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/family-safety-app.md) - [Personal Safety Applications](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/citizen-app.md) - [Emergency Distress Signals](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/sos-light-app.md) - [Collaborative Policing Apps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/policing-app.md)
