# Pulsating Theater Walls The Hyper-Matrix by Jonpasang is the Future of Movie Cinemas By Meghan Young | Published 2012-09-10 | Unique Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypermatrix-by-jonpasang References: [fastcodesign](http://www.fastcodesign.com/1670724/a-movie-theaters-walls-broken-into-thousands-of-pulsating-pixels) & [creativeapplications.net](http://www.creativeapplications.net/environment/hyper-matrix-thousands-of-physical-pixels-in-a-180o-vertical-landscape/) The Hyper-Matrix by Jonpasang, a design collective based in Seoul, Korea, may just be the future of cinema. Perhaps that statement is extreme, especially considering that this installation involves an [abstract pulsating wall](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/humanise-wall) rather than a more immersive movie experience. A unique creation, it is made up of "[thousands of motorized cubes](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/curly-cube), all of which pulse into glorious, larger than life patterns," as written by Fast Co. Design. Created for the [Hyundai Motor Group Exhibition Pavilion](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/metamobility) at the 2012 Yeosu EXPO in Korea, the Hyper-Matrix by Jonpasang is specifically comprised of lightweight, 300mm x 300mm cubes, each attached to its own stepper motor and secured to a steel scaffolding. The show it puts on is mesmerizing. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 6.4/10 - Popularity: 96% | Activity: 87% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 50% men, 50% women - Primary generations: Gen Z, Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Unique](https://www.trendhunter.com/unique) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Pulsating Walls:** Pulsating walls offer a unique and immersive visual experience, creating opportunities for innovative art installations or interior designs. - **Motorized Cubes:** Motorized cubes allow for dynamic and interactive structures, paving the way for innovative architectural designs. - **Abstract Installations:** Abstract installations challenge traditional forms of art and entertainment, presenting disruptive opportunities for creative industries. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Movie Cinemas:** Movie cinemas can explore new ways to enhance the movie-watching experience by incorporating pulsating walls or abstract installations for a more immersive and captivating atmosphere. - **Art Installations:** Art installations can incorporate motorized cubes and pulsating walls to create visually stimulating and interactive experiences for viewers. - **Architecture:** The architecture industry can leverage motorized cubes to create innovative and transformative structures that can adapt and change based on user interactions. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Projector-Replacing Cinema Screens](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cinema-led-screens.md) - [Panoramic Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/holo-panorama-x.md) - [Colossal Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/colossal-holographic-display.md) - [Immersive Digital Art Galleries](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/the-reel-store.md) - [Interactive Architectural Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/folding-landscape.md) - [HDMI-Supported Holographic Displays](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hypervsn-smartv.md) - [Cinema Screen Lamps](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/cinema-screen-lamp.md) - [Connected Lamp-Style Projectors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/projector-concept.md) - [Kinetic Interaction Pavilions](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/transmutation-observatory.md)
