# Hydrogen Fuel Cell Tractors New Holland's Innovation for Zero Emissions Farming By Katie Cordrey | Published 2009-04-26 | Eco Source: Trend Hunter, https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydrogen-fuel-cell-tractors-new-holland-zero-emmissions-farming References: [energysavinggadgets.net](http://energysavinggadgets.net/hydrogen-fuel-cell-tractor-by-new-holland/200904378) & [agriculture.newholland](http://agriculture.newholland.com/uk/en/WNH/hydrogen/Pages/Default.aspx) As part of its [zero-emissions farming](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/dairy-evaporator-ezero) vision, Holland has produced a prototype 'NH2 Hydrogen Powered Tractor.' The tractor is undergoing testing and Holland hopes to have it on the market in three years. The [hydrogen fuel cell](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/hydrogen-cartridges) transforms hydrogen into electricity to run two motors. The [zero emissions, noiseless](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/corleo), constant power tractor outputs a small amount of steam--the only operating byproduct of the fuel cell systems. **Implications** - The featured video is a commercial about the tractor and shows off its unique look and capabilities. The tractor has a modern look and is painted with bright colors such as blue and yellow. This tractor will certainly make farming easier for people and also much more efficient. New Holland would like to be able to give farmers the option to run their farms with energy that they have generated themselves. ## Trend Insights (Trend Hunter) - Score: 3.7/10 - Popularity: 20% | Activity: 84% | Freshness: 8% - Audience gender: 70% men, 30% women - Primary generations: Millennial, Gen X - Top markets: North America, Europe, Asia ## Categories [Trend Hunter](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends) > [Eco](https://www.trendhunter.com/eco) ## Key Themes ### Why This Trend Is Growing - **Zero-emissions Farming:** Developing and implementing new technologies that reduce or eliminate greenhouse gas emissions from agricultural processes to meet sustainability targets. - **Hydrogen Fuel Cells:** Advanced fuel cell systems that can increase energy efficiency and reduce emissions in transportation, manufacturing, and other industries. - **Renewable Energy-powered Machinery:** The development of machinery that operates on renewable energy sources, such as hydrogen, solar, wind, and geothermal energy, to reduce reliance on fossil fuels. ### Industries Being Reshaped - **Agriculture:** Implementing innovative and sustainable practices to increase efficiency and productivity in farming operations while reducing carbon footprint. - **Renewable Energy:** Developing and scaling up advanced renewable energy technologies, including hydrogen fuel cells, to meet global energy demands and decarbonization goals. - **Transportation:** Integrating hydrogen fuel cell technology in vehicles and other modes of transportation to reduce emissions and increase energy efficiency. ## Related on Trend Hunter - [Powerful Hybrid Wheeled Tractors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/highcapacity-agricultural-vehicle.md) - [Vineyard-Tending Tractors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/tractor-concept.md) - [Hydrogen-Powered Refuse Trucks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/refuse-truck.md) - [Fully Autonomous Tractors](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/autonomous-tractor.md) - [Autonomous Farming Vehicles](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/autonomous-multiterrain-tractor.md) - [Hydrogen Fuel Cars](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toyota-showcases.md) - [Hydrogen-Powered Campervan Concepts](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/campervan-concept.md) - [Hydrogen-Powered Pickup Trucks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/toyota-hilux.md) - [Hydrogen-Electric Race Trucks](https://www.trendhunter.com/trends/gaussin.md)
